TORNUM’s screw auger is suitable for transport of granular and powdered materials, such as grain, feed, granules and wooden pellets. It can be used at different angles of inclination for horizontal to vertical transport. Each auger can be adapted according to the material and capacity required.
The principle of our screw conveyor is a helical screw with a central shaft, which works inside a steel tube. The pipe system consists of a combination of fixed standard lengths which are assembled to form a complete conveyor of desired length.
There are two main types of drive unit; Either so-called direct drive where the motor is connected directly to the screw with only a coupling in between, or open transmission with chain or vee-belt drive.
The spiral consists of a steel helix with a tubular steel core. The spiral is available with different diameters for each main group. The pitch and diameter of the spiral has to be selected to suit the type of material and the capacity required. The outer tube is made from
galvanised steel. The spiral and the outer tube combine to form a so-called extension.
